Craig & Nathalie
Hello! We’re Craig and Nathalie. Thank you for taking the time to read our profile and learn more about our family. As a couple, we look forward to building our family through adoption and understand that this opportunity is a gift. After a long and tiresome battle with fertility problems, we decided to extend our family through adoption. We understand the sacrifice that you are making and want to bring you comfort during this difficult time. We believe that we can offer a child unconditional love, support, joy and security in a loving home.
In the beginning
We both attended the same college and met through mutual friends. Craig was in the college of management majoring in accounting while Nathalie was in the college of humanities and social science majoring in social work. From the beginning, we both realized that there was an instant connection and quickly started to spend all of our free time together. Over the next few years our relationship continued to grow stronger but momentarily faced a fork in the road.
Craig was offered a job in Illinois and left North Carolina, while Nathalie stayed in North Carolina due a job commitment of her own. We both knew that a long distance relationship would be tough but our love and dedication for each other kept us uplifted during our time apart. Within a year, Nathalie had been accepted to graduate school and moved to Illinoise to pursue her master’s degree. Even though we were away from all of our family, we realized that we had this amazing opportunity for career and personal growth and also more time to strengthen our own relationship.
We got married while still living in Illinois and relocated back to North Carolina a couple of years later. We love North Carolina and are looking forward to expanding our family through adoption and raising a child in this wonderful area of the country.
About us
Nathalie was born in Germany to a military family. Nathalie’s father was in the Army and her mother is from a small country in Europe. During Nathalie’s childhood and teenage years, her family lived in Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, and the United States. Nathalie was fortunate to have traveled throughout Europe; she went camping with her family in countries like Czech Republic, Italy and Switzerland. During high school, Nathalie volunteered to go to Romania and help re-build an old run down orphanage. These experiences were truly rewarding for her and have since affected her life in many ways to include her desire to help others.
Due to the diverse childhood in which Nathalie was brought up she also speaks German and French. After high school, Nathalie attended college and earned her Bachelor in social work; she went on working in her field helping developmental disabled children and the elderly for several years. Nathalie received her Master’s degree in social work and continues to work with the elderly population. She loves being a social worker and helping those in need and participating in community service events to include Alzheimer’s Walk and Race for the Cure. Nathalie’s brother is a pilot and has two beautiful children, a 7 year old daughter and a 4 year old son.
Craig was born in Virginia but spent most of his life in North Carolina. Craig has a younger brother and two older sisters with 7 nieces and 1 nephew. Craig is very close with his family and loves spending time with everyone, especially around the holidays. Craig has a very special relationship with his mother and father. Growing up, Craig was very athletic and loved playing sports such as football, basketball and baseball. From childhood to present, Craig and his family traveled all of the country attending college and professional football games which was not only a passion of Craig but his father as well. One of Craig’s treasured moments was fulfilling a dream of his father’s which was to attend a Notre Dame Football game in South Bend, IN and Green Bay Packers football at Lambeau field. Craig, his father and brother actually attended games in both places in a single weekend while still living in Chicago.
Craig attended college in North Carolina, receiving an accounting degree and currently works for a marketing services company. Craig has an unbelievable work ethic and passion of his work and just recently won the highest award in the company for his teams contributions to achieving company goals. The prize for winning the company award was an all expenses paid vacation to Costa Rica. Craig also is somewhat of a social butterfly and has a personality that is contagious. Craig loves to travel, play golf on the weekends, work out after a long day at the office and recently started taking up woodworking as a hobby. His most recent project was building shelves to hold all of our shoes in the hall closet and a bookcase for all of our DVD’s.
Fun Times
We love to travel and are currently planning a trip to see Nathalie’s family in Luxembourg and France. Some of our recent trips have taken us to Mexico, Costa Rico, California, Connecticut, Florida, Asheville and the beaches of North Carolina. On the weekends, we enjoy taking long walks with our golden retriever “Jack” in a local parks, taking in the great local restaurants, or simply relaxing while watching a good movie with lots of popcorn.
We both enjoy attending local college sporting events especially football and basketball games. Craig, who is a football fanatic, has a group of college buddies that visit a new city each year to do their fantasy football draft which is something he looks forward to every year. We’re very fortunate to have close knit family and friends that we love to spend time with on the weekends. The holidays are always a fun time!
Our Home and Neighborhood
We live in a two story home with 4 bedrooms plus a bonus room. We live in a great neighborhood with lots of kids ranging from elementary to high school. Our home is located adjacent to the neighborhood playground and just off a cul-de-sac. It seems our street is occupied by the neighborhood children more than cars on any given day. Our neighborhood is located in a great school district and close to local amenities, including a swimming pool. Our neighborhood has many social events throughout the year with most of them focused on events for the children including Easter Egg Hunts, Annual Children BBQ block party, 4 th July Parade with fire engine rides and Halloween trick o’ treating with costume contest.
Our Faith
Craig was raised Baptist while Nathalie was raised Catholic. Our faith is big part of our lives. We attend church weekly and feel prayer and faith have helped us as a couple get through some of the toughest times in our marriage. We would like to continue the tradition and raise a child to live with the philosophies that love, respect and dignity for others is essential. Our goal is to expose our child to religion but allowing him or her to make their own decision when the time is right as to how they want to incorporate faith into their daily lives.
About adoption
Adoption is the blessing that would answer our prayers in extending our family. Though, we always wanted and talked about having a big family, life seemed to have had a different plan for us. We are appreciative that with this path comes even greater responsibility and commitment. Being a parent and loving a child is the greatest gift that a family could ever experience and we want let you know that the sacrifice that you are making is one the will not go unnoticed.
We want to raise a child with unconditional love, joy and laughter. As a family our goal is to be united and bond stronger through all the ups and downs that life may throw at us. Our goal is for your child to feel comfort and security in a family that will cherish him or her and know that there will always be a place to call home. You will always be a part of their life and a part of our family and for that we are grateful.
