Jeff & Lisa
Hello, we are Jeff and Lisa. We would like to thank you for taking the opportunity to view our profile.
In the Beginning
Jeff and I met in 1992 and after two years of dating, we became engaged. We married a couple of years later at the Baptist church that Jeff had attended all his life. Our wedding was bigger than we had planned but that was okay because we were surrounded by hundreds of family members, extended family, and friends. It was what we both consider to be the happiest day of our lives. We have been married for 13 years.
Jeff and I decided to wait for several years to try to have children because we wanted to spend more time getting to know each other through the first years of our married lives. After a year of trying with no luck, we began to consult a fertility specialist. We underwent many tests, painful procedures, lots of very expensive medications, shots that Lisa had to take, doctor visits, physicals, and such before finding out that we were not able to conceive. This was very hard for us to understand because as much as we loved children and spending time with our nieces and children of our friends, we just always assumed we would be able to have our own. We went through 3 unsuccessful IUI (intrauterine insemination) procedures. Again, this was very heartbreaking to realize that it just wasn’t going to work for us. The next step was a costly procedure known as in-vitro fertilization, which again, would not guarantee a pregnancy. We decided not to undergo this procedure and to pray for guidance. We prayed through this whole process and thought we were doing the right thing by going through all this. Our faith is very important to us and we let God guide this series of events. It was only until about a year ago that God began to lead us down a different road. We talked to some friends who were going through the same infertility issues that we were and they began to educate us on adoption and how wonderful it had been for them as they were blessed with a beautiful baby. We so want a child to complete our family. We pray daily that God will answer our prayers.
About Us
We both come from very loving families. I am an only child with lots of cousins who live nearby, all of whom have children of all ages. Jeff has a brother who has 2 daughters. They also live nearby us. Our parents each live within 10-20 minutes of us, along with a multitude of wonderful and supportive friends, all with children. Our church is absolutely wonderful. This is our support system for everything. It is a very close-knit church with over 150 children of all ages.
We can offer a child a very loving home with responsible parents, who are supportive and caring. As I said before, our faith is important to us and a child will certainly learn about God. We live on a family farm with a large yard and a dog, Buddy, which is very playful and likes children. There is a pond on our property where we fish during the spring and summer months. We live within 15 minutes of several parks and since Jeff and I are both the outdoor, active type, we spend lots of time outside. Jeff likes to play golf and my sport is softball. Some of Jeff’s other hobbies are fishing, cutting grass, and spending time with family & friends. My hobbies are photography, scrapbooking, spending time with family & friends, and snow skiing. I also have spent lots of time at church with the children, organizing Easter egg hunts, Christmas plays, and other events throughout the year. Jeff is an ordained Deacon at our church and also helps with the upkeep of the church. We both are very involved with the youth program at our church and have been for 14 years now.
Jeff has works for a large company nearby & has been employed there for many years. He has had the opportunity to travel to 3 foreign countries as a result of his job. I have a degree in Communications and I work for a local media outlet which is a short drive from home. I have worked there for 13 years. Both of us have flexible schedules and very cooperative employers. We both are very successful in our jobs and enjoy them very much.
Faith
As mentioned earlier, we are both very involved with the youth program at our church and have traveled on many trips with them. One of our vacations each year is a trip to the beach for a week to church camp with about 50 kids. We have been doing that for the past 9 years. We both love Disneyworld and have been several times in the past few years. Jeff enjoys playing golf at the beach and I love the peacefulness of the mountains. We have annual family reunions either in North Carolina or Georgia (where I have family as well) so that we all can get together and catch up on happenings of each other. We see our parents daily and have very close relationships with them.
Friends
Our friends’ children are important to us. We have gained the trust and confidence of many of our friends and even have had the opportunity to keep their children while they were on out of town weekend trips. We realize that it is important for parents to know that their children are in good hands while they are away, so we appreciate the fact that our friends trust us that much.
We are so anxious to welcome a child into our home. It takes amazing strength to make the decision that you are making and we thank you for doing that, otherwise people like us who aren’t able to conceive, would never be blessed with a child. We will raise a child to know that these types of decisions are difficult to make, but because it has been made, we were indeed blessed. Jeff and I are simple, plain individuals who have lots of love to give a child and look forward to doing that soon. This child will be surrounded constantly with people who love him or her, including family, friends, and extended family. Our friends and family are just as excited as we are about this journey. We will give a child unconditional love and we will support them in decisions they make as they grow into a fine individual. Again, thank you for viewing our profile and we pray that God will bless you.
