Leon & Janice
Hi, we are Leon and Janice, and we are very excited at the prospect of adopting a child to help make our family complete. Though at the moment you are going through a difficult time and making one of the hardest decisions of your life, we want you to know that, if we are lucky enough to have your child become part of our family, they would be with loving, caring people who will provide the best environment for them to grow.
IN THE BEGINNING
We both grew up in different parts of England – Janice in the south, Leon in the north. After leaving school we both moved to the same town and finally met when we joined the same company. We felt like we had always known each other and getting married was just the icing on the cake!
A couple of years after we married, Leon’s employer offered us the opportunity to move to the US and we jumped at the chance. We spent seven years in Florida before moving to our current home in North Carolina. We’re very happy here and hope to stay for a very long time.
ABOUT US
Leon is a software engineer, and Janice is a Special Project Coordinator for a government supplier. We both work from home, so we would both be able to enjoy caring for a baby during the day and at night.
ABOUT OUR FAMILY
Leon’s family are in England however they are frequent visitors to our home and are in contact with us weekly by phone and email. Janice’s family is spread around the world – Canada, England, Australia, Portugal and Kenya and all are excited about the prospect of seeing an addition to our family. We like to travel to see family wherever they are in the world and we would love to show our child other parts of the world too.
Although our family may be far away, we have a large group of friends and neighbors who are so supportive our decision to adopt. Many of our friends have children so our child would have lots of other children to play with.
FUN TIMES
We both like hiking and venturing out into the countryside. Janice is a keen photographer and also likes to draw and paint. She’s also teaching herself to play the piano. When not outside looking at the wildlife in the neighborhood, Janice loves visiting the zoo, nature preserves and aquariums. Janice is also very keen on crafting and likes to needlepoint and knit.
Leon likes sports and will watch any sporting event that happens to be playing. He really enjoys watching and playing soccer and is learning all about baseball, American football and basketball which are not well known in England. Leon loves music and plays both the acoustic and electric guitar. He also like to program computers and to experiment with any new gadget and gizmo.
OUR HOME
We live in a large 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom house with a back garden that leads to a wooded area and a golf course. Our neighborhood is very quiet and very friendly, and we are fortunate to have wonderful, supportive neighbors. In our subdivision we also have a children’s playground and a swimming pool.
Another member of our family is our cat named Purdy, who has come with us on our travels since she first came to live with us nearly 13 years ago. She loves people and likes to spend most of her time on our back porch looking at the squirrels and rabbits that wander through our garden.
ADOPTION
Since we married, our one hope was to have a child. We spent many years struggling with infertility until we realized that we don’t need biology to have a family. All we want is to love a child, provide the best home we can, keep them safe and help them grow up to be healthy, happy people.
