Mike & Hannah
Hello, we are Mike and Hannah. Thank you for taking time to learn about us and our desire to adopt a child. We hope this provides insight into our lives.
In the Beginning
We met while attending college classes together. We dated for three years in college and did most everything together, from attending classes, doing laundry, and studying in the library. After Mike got permission from Hannah’s parents, he asked her to marry him on bended knee. Our wedding took place at Hannah’s small church in the NC mountains. We invited family and friends from across the country and had a big two day party. We topped off the event with a honeymoon in Hawaii. We believe our relationship is so strong because of the time we spent together dating in college.
About Us
Hannah was raised in the mountains of North Carolina and grew-up with an older adopted brother and her parents. It was required that we all sit down together every night for dinner. Hannah’s fond memories are when her dad would take the family on hikes through the forests to discover unexpected waterfalls and when her mom would ask her to help cook and bake. The reward of baking was to lick the spoon. Hannah is an accountant performing audits for the State to make sure the money is spent the way it should according to the laws.
Mike was raised in the suburbs of Washington DC and grew-up with two older brothers. One of Mike’s fondest memories was when his dad would take the boys on a bike trip on the Chesapeake & Ohio canal and when his mom would ask him to make chocolate chip cookies. Mike also is an accountant, he works for a local hospital preparing financial statements and making sure vendors are paid properly.
We love music and love to travel. We enjoy doing fun stuff while on vacation. We love going to Myrtle Beach, SC and playing in the surf. We have gone to places from Australia to the Rocky Mountains. We have gone SCUBA diving, surfing, zip-lining, and snow skiing. We also do a lot of traveling to attend family reunions. Hannah’s family must have a million of them each year but she loves all the hugging and kissing with the family. When not traveling or working we like to do our own home repairs and minor remodeling. Also, Hannah loves to be with family and try new cooking recipes and Mike enjoys exercising and doing yard work.
Our Home
We live in an established neighborhood that was built in the 1960’s. We have a fenced in large back yard for children to play in. We have two neighborhood pools and a park nearby. We have one cat, Oscar, who looks like Garfield, except Oscar has a very short tail.
Our Faith
We are both Christians and attend a local United Methodist Church. We are both very active in our church serving in leadership roles. Hannah sings in the praise band and has served on several committees. Mike helps with running the sound system and also has served on several committees. Our children will absolutely be raised by attending church on Sundays. Our faith is our foundation to our lives and to our marriage.
About Adoption
When we were dating we talked about having children, including adoption. Hannah’s older brother is adopted and it has been wonderful. We explored low level fertility treatments with no success and decided these were signs that we should adopt. We believe that God was telling us that He has a child He wants us to adopt.
